Great news: U2 must have read my blog and they removed the 'equal' sign from the cover last minute. Okay, maybe they did not read my blog, but they surely removed the sign. Nice. Maybe it was the voice of the web speaking, like in the Tropicana design recall.

I can only assume that they will find a way to create something visually stunning, even if they have to base it on an undistinguished design, as we have already seen with the inspired Echo awards stage design, as well as the elegant box set design.

I agree with you to leave our personal tastes out of it, but even then, basing it on the opinion of a design professional, it is quite an unfortunate design that evokes a young and trashy SoCal band, not a top electronica act that sold millions of 'records' and has impressed with its eye for graphic design sophistication in the past.

Just like you and I sometimes have to step into far-from-perfect, pre-defined, design guides and regulations and we still find a way to make something great out of it, so will the several creative teams working with the pre-defined Corbjin brand find a way to do the same. It is fun to watch, for sure. Yes, fun to listen to as well, but i will not comment on the disappointing Thin White Duke (also knows as: Stuart David Price, Les Rythmes Digitales, Basic Zoot Woman, Paper Faces, Man With Guitar, Jacques Lu Cont, Pour Homme, S.D.P.) Remix of 'Wrong', that would just take it way too far for this blog.
